Exchange Pirates

Meeting again this Saturday, Exchange Dublin at 4pm

All welcome, come on down and fly your flag!

It's a new year so lets look at how we're doing.

Well 2009 came and went without much happening for most but for all of us Pirates here in Ireland it brought with it the founding of the Irish Pirate Party. Already we have over 130 members and with any luck by this time next year we will have the full amount needed to register officially and we will be well on our way to making this country a more free and pleasant place to live.

Sad news for the International Pirate community

This was sent to the PP mailing list and as a mark of respect for the late Florian Hufsky I decided to put it up here so that if anyone knew him that they can pay tribute.

Recruitment started for Policy Workgroups

Well to cut a long story short we are finally putting together workgroups to help nail down the types of policies we will be following as a party. If anyone wishes to help out please contact us via the contact page here on the site or via this thread in the forum.

A small thanks to all our supporters

Its been a crazy couple of weeks now and I thought I'd take a moment to say a few words to all of our supporters.

We have had a good few people signing up to the party and I'd like to thank all of these people for their support. We are still a long way from getting registered but we are slowly getting there. There have been a few new members that I couldn't find the time to email back personally so I think I'll just make an overall response here. Welcome all of you to the party. Its nice to have you aboard.

Pirate Party Disapproves of Eircom Blocking Pirate Bay.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
August 24, 2009

The Pirate Party is deeply concerned by news that eircom is to block access from its subscribers to thepiratebay.org. The Pirate bay is a website that provides listings of content hosted by people all around the world that can be searched and downloaded via peer-to-peer technology. It hosts absolutely no copyrighted material itself, only links.

Pirate Party MEP Christian Engström on Today FM

In light of the recent Eircom announcements to block the Pirate Bay from September 1st, Matt Cooper invited Dick Doyle, Director General of IRMA (Irish Recorded Music Association) and Swedish Piratpartiet MEP Christian Engström to debate the issues on TodayFM's The Last Word.
